Can I bake components in VCarve Pro? Yes, adds Quick Component Baking

The correction
Older KB entries frame component baking as an Aspire capability. As of VCarve Pro 12.5 that is out of date: baking components is available in VCarve Pro, and the 12.5 What's New highlights Quick Component Baking, which gives you access to the baking functions through the right-click context menu to streamline finalizing designs. Baking Components also has its own page in the VCarve Pro 12.5 documentation. That page is brief, so the Aspire page describes the full behavior.
What baking does
Baking consolidates the selected components into a single component object. Afterward the individual elements can no longer be accessed separately. Dynamic properties applied to a component are made permanent by baking, which is what makes further stacked edits possible: once baked, you can apply further dynamic properties on top of the previously applied ones.
Holding Ctrl while triggering Bake keeps the originals and creates a new baked component instead of replacing the selection. This is the safe way to bake (documented for Aspire, so confirm it behaves the same in your VCarve Pro build before relying on it).
When it matters in VCarve Pro
VCarve Pro does not have Aspire's shape-building tools, but it does import and arrange 3D components (STL, clipart, models). Baking is useful there to:
- Consolidate several imported components into one near the end of design, which can help performance on complex projects.
- Lock in applied dynamic properties so another round can be applied on top.
- Tidy a long component list into a single finished object before toolpathing.
Because baking replaces your components, a Ctrl-copy (or duplicating first) is especially important in VCarve Pro, where you cannot sculpt your way out of a mistake.
Pro tips
- Right-click the selection. That is the 12.5 "quick" route to the bake commands.
- Keep an unbaked copy of the components on a hidden level until the job has been cut.
- For the full theory of baking vs. keeping components live, see the entry on what Baking does and when to bake. It applies to VCarve Pro 12.5 too, except that Create Component from Visible Model is Aspire only.
