How do sheet-specific toolpaths work in, and how do I move or copy toolpaths between sheets?

What changed in 12.5

Sheets let one project hold multiple parts, each sheet with its own dimensions and properties (see the multi-sheet jobs entry for sheet basics). In 12.5, toolpaths are sheet-specific: each toolpath (and toolpath group) stays attached to the sheet it belongs to, keeping multi-part projects organized instead of one long undifferentiated list.

The Sheets Filter in the Toolpath Tree

Above the Toolpath Tree sits the Sheets Filter dropdown. Pick a sheet to make it active and see just its toolpaths, or choose All Sheets to see everything. In the All Sheets view, toolpaths belonging to inactive sheets draw faded out but remain fully functional. Double-clicking a sheet in the 2D view (or picking it from this filter) switches the active sheet; only the active sheet shows in the 3D view.

Transferring toolpaths between sheets

Right-click any toolpath in the tree:

  • Copy To > Copy To Sheet duplicates it onto another sheet, leaving the original in place.
  • Move To > Move To Sheet relocates it, removing it from the source sheet.

Two-sided jobs use the same right-click logic to copy or move toolpaths between the Top and Bottom sides (Copy To and Move To > Other Side). One restriction: toolpath groups belong to the sheet they were created on, and toolpaths on different sheets cannot be grouped or merged together.

Visual toolpath status

12.5 also adds status indicators in the tree. When you duplicate a sheet with its toolpaths, the affected toolpaths show a red "!" and an italicized name until you check and recalculate them. Related Options-dialog setting: Select Sheet When Edit Toolpaths auto-activates the owning sheet when you open a toolpath for editing (see the Options dialog entry).

Pro tips

  • Copy To, then edit vectors per sheet, beats recreating a strategy from scratch for repeated parts.
  • Before saving G-code, set the filter to one sheet so you don't mix parts in one output file.
  • Recalculate anything italicized before trusting the preview.
