Where can I get more gadgets beyond the ones that came with the program, and how do I judge one before installing it?

The documented sources

Official pages point to two places:

  1. The official gadget library. The developer page says it carries both gadgets written by the software maker and gadgets contributed by other users. It is sorted by software version, and each gadget has its own page with instructions.
  2. The gadgets section of the software maker's user forum. The manual links to it and describes it as the place for news on the latest releases from the maker and from fellow users.

Independent authors also publish gadgets on their own websites. Some of those pages were written for much older versions of the software, so treat the stated version as the first thing to check.

How to judge a gadget before you install it

  • Version match. A gadget is published for specific versions. Pick the build for yours. If your version is not named, assume it is untested.
  • Edition. The official FAQ states gadgets are only available in VCarve Pro and Aspire, and that the Pro trial versions do not allow additional gadgets. Some library gadgets are marked Aspire only because they create 3D components.
  • Instructions. The manual recommends reading a gadget's instructions in full, because each has its own starting requirements (selected vectors, an open job, or no job at all).
  • Expectations. The manual says plainly that gadgets are not as polished as built-in features and that nobody is expected to install them all. Install the ones that match work you actually do.
  • Source. A gadget is a program that runs inside your design software with access to your job. Take them from the library, the official forum section, or an author you can identify. Be wary of re-uploads on file-sharing sites.

Install and back out safely

  1. Save your work and try the new gadget on a copy of a job.
  2. Install with Gadgets > Install New Gadget.
  3. Preview any toolpath it makes before saving G-code.
  4. To remove it, open File > Open Application Data Folder, open Gadgets, delete that gadget's folder and restart.

About the DXF batch gadget

The official FAQ mentions a DXF batch processor gadget that imports every DXF in a folder and lays them out in rows and columns. As of September 30, 2026 it does not appear in the public gadget library listing. If you need it, ask the software maker's support where to get the build for your version.

Pro tips

  • Check whether the feature is now built in before hunting for a gadget. Dogbone fillets and chamfers both moved into the main program.
  • Keep the downloaded installer files in a folder of your own so reinstalling after an upgrade is quick.
