Behind Kinetic Carving
The name Kinetic goes back long before I ever touched a CNC machine. During my career in the U.S. Army, I developed a love for the word and what it represented - motion, energy, action, and the controlled chaos that could ensue when that energy was unleashed. There was something about the word that always stuck with me, and I knew that if I ever built something of my own, Kinetic would somehow be part of it.
My love for woodworking actually started much earlier. As a freshman in high school, I took my first woodworking class and immediately enjoyed creating something tangible from a raw piece of material. That interest stayed with me for years.
In 2015, I made my first real attempt at turning that passion into a woodworking business. The Army, however, had different plans. My career continued taking me away from home, making it difficult to build any real momentum and eventually forcing me to put the business aside.
Nearing retirement, I discovered CNC machining, and suddenly those two parts of my life came together. Woodworking combined with CNC and laser technologies, precision, and constant motion. Watching a machine move through material, seeing wood transform into a finished design, and even experiencing the occasional violent tearout felt like kinetic energy in motion.
The name I had carried with me for years finally had its purpose.
Kinetic Carving was born.
