What the tools cost and who can use them.
What do the tools cost?
KERF, CHIP and the Maker Directory are free and need no account. Across our tools, some are free and open to all, some need a free account, and some are for active members only. We may change which tools are free, members-only or available at all.
Credits and files
How credits work and what you keep.
How many credits do I get?
Credits are added every time a membership payment succeeds, including your first. Monthly members get a month of credits each month, and annual members get the whole year of credits up front. The current amounts are on the membership page. Every design shows its credit cost before you download, so you always know what you will spend.
Do unused credits roll over?
Yes. Unused credits roll over with no limit and do not expire while your account exists, so a slow month is never wasted.
What happens to files I already downloaded if I cancel?
The File License is permanent for files you have obtained and continues after a membership ends. The files you already obtained stay yours to download again at no further credit cost.
Using the files
Where the files work and what you can sell.
What machines and software do your files work with?
Vector files work with LightBurn, Vectric (VCarve and Aspire), Glowforge, xTool, Easel, Carbide Create and more. STL files are 3D models for 3D carving and 3D printing software. Every credit download also includes the KC Vector File Guide (PDF), with a compatibility chart and the recommended file type for your machine.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes. The File License lets you make and sell finished physical products from our files, such as carved, cut, engraved or printed pieces, with no limit on how many. It covers every file you get from us, whether you bought it, downloaded it with credits or got it free. The license is personal to you: one person, or one business with one workshop, and it can't be transferred. Some designs depict military units, agencies or other organizations. The license covers our artwork only and gives no rights in anyone else's trademarks, insignia, badges or seals, and you are responsible for making sure your use and any sale of finished items comply with the law.
